Strong quarter for Tyson as beef sales rise by 4.5%

Packer and leather manufacturer Tyson has announced strong results for the first quarter of its business year, the three months ending on December 31, 2017.

Over the three-month period, Tyson achieved sales revenues of more than $10.2 billion, an 11% increase on the same quarter a year earlier. Its revenues from beef sales increased by 4.5% year on year to reach almost $3.9 billion.

Chief executive, Tom Hayes, said: “We’re creating a modern food company focused on protein. The strength and diversity of our portfolio are evident. We drove solid results in each of our segments: beef, pork, chicken and prepared foods.”
