Chemicals manufacturer Buckman has appointed Dr Andrew Hudson as the new global market development manager for its leather division. The company said he will focus on “growing Buckman’s leather business through customer relationships and collaborative problem-solving, delivering value across the global industry”.

Dr Hudson joins Buckman from research and testing group SGS, where he was technical head of its ‘softlines’ business. Before working for SGS, he held senior positions at two UK-based tanning groups, Pittards and Yarwood Leather.

Commenting on the appointment, Buckman’s vice-president for leather and performance chemicals, Michael Alpert, said: “Andrew’s educational background and extensive experience makes him invaluable in this role. He has demonstrated throughout his career the ability to be a great leader and strategic thinker. I believe Andrew will further Buckman’s success with his thorough understanding of the science and technology of leather manufacturing and the leather supply chain.”
