GRSB, an Amsterdam-based multi-stakeholder group that seeks to advance continuous improvement in the sustainability of the global beef value chain, will also have representatives of JBS, McDonald’s, the World Wildlife Fund and Dutch supermarket group Ahold Delhaize on its executive committee for the next two years.
On taking up the role of president, Nicole Johnson-Hoffman said: “I’m pleased to be leading a growing membership-based organisation that believes there are many paths to sustainability. GRSB brings together people from across the world, who represent all segments of the beef value chain, who agree there’s massive value in sharing knowledge, and who want to partner to drive exciting new levels of performance.”
She went on to explain that, in some parts of the world, sustainability is being driven by innovative producer education programmes focused on soil management and quality cattle care. In other places, people are creating production-system efficiencies that enable a reduction in the amount of water used in beef processing plants. In other locations, people are coming together to form new regional roundtables focused on beef sustainability.
