Cheaney achieves £10 million in sales for the first time

High-end footwear brand Joseph Cheaney & Sons has reported revenues for the 12 months ending July 2017 and has reported annual revenues of more than £10 million for the first time.

On announcing the results, joint managing director Jonathan Church said: “Cheaney has delivered another year of strong growth, and continues to perform well especially in branded sales, reflecting the growing appeal of our own brand and the consumer’s appreciation of quality hand-crafted footwear.”

Cousins Jonathan and William Church, both fifth-generation shoemakers, conducted a buy-out of the Cheaney brand in 2009 after the sale of their family’s brand, Church’s, to luxury group Prada. Highly regarded among shoe aficionados, Cheaney was best known at the time in the trade as a contract manufacturer, producing shoes for other brands. In achieving annual sales of more than £10 million in this most recent business year, 80% of the total came from own-brand sales.
