Second term confirmed for UNIDO director general
Li Yong of China has been elected to serve a second four-year term as director general of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). Confirmation that he had been reappointed to serve a second term came at the start of the 2017 UNIDO General Conference in Vienna on November 27.

Originally from Zhejiang province, Mr Li was a vice-minister in the Chinese governments finance ministry until his original election as director general of UNIDO in 2013. Other previous roles he has held include being the governor in China of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
