Malaysian group makes inroads into aviation leather

In its most recent annual report, published ahead of its annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur on November 28, Pecca said it has made “significant inroads” into the aviation leather market since receiving authorisation from Malaysia’s department of civil aviation to start supplying leather for aircraft seating in September 2016.
Pecca already had an aviation division, but its focus until last year was on supplying and repairing cabin parts. The green light from the department of civil aviation meant it was able to start bidding for contracts to supply leather too.
Initially, its offering was restricted to replacement leather covers for seats in private aircraft, but the board said in the report it has worked hard to secure contracts to supply leather for seating in commercial aircraft too and said it was hopeful of a breakthrough in the near future.
It added: “Should this materialise, it will represent a significant milestone for the group in realising its vision to be a global leader in leather upholstery manufacturing as the aviation is considered a premium segment with a high barrier of entry.”
