Beef is still big business for Tyson

Meat and tanning group Tyson Foods has reported full-year revenues of almost $38.3 billion, an increase of 3.7% compared to fiscal year 2016. From this, it achieved earnings of more than $2.9 billion, an increase of 3.5%.

Beef brought in revenues of more than $14.8 billion over the 12-month period for Tyson, up by 2.1% year on year, accounting for almost 40% of total revenues in 2017. Tyson said that, in terms of volume, it had sold 1.8% more beef than in the previous year.

Across the group, beef remained by far the most important product, bringing in almost 30% more revenue than chicken, almost 90% more than the prepared foods segment and more than 180% more than pork.
