The new issue of World Leather is now available
The October-November issue of World Leather magazine is now available online. Subscribers can access the full e-zine here.

Follow the link for the sixth report from the current Tannery of the Year programme. For this issue, we travelled to Zhejiang province in China to visit the Tongtianxing Group, one of the world’s largest producers of furniture leather. The company maintains close links with its supply chain partners so that it is able to offer its customers a regular supply of fresh, new raw material.

As with all of our Tannery of the Year reports, we also offer readers a wider view of the leather industry in the surrounding country. The first part of our in-depth look at the Chinese leather industry focuses on the country’s role as a manufacturer of leather and leather products.

The magazine’s technical section includes the sixth and final article about the greenLIFE project that launched in Arzignano in 2014, as well as news of how a New Zealand-based tanner is changing the way it exports sheepkins. There is also information about a new splitting machine from Gemata.

In our Beast to Beauty feature, we put the spotlight on Chinese bed manufacturer De Rucci, which is making use of high-quality leather as it seeks to help its customers get a good night’s sleep.

This issue of World Leather also includes a special report examining the Global Leather Coordinating Committee’s (GLCC) call for more to be done to protect the term ‘leather’ as the industry fights back against misleading product descriptions from brands and material suppliers.
