August is Brazilian beef’s best month for exports in three years

Brazil’s beef exports for August were the best of any month this year, meat exporters’ association Abiec has said.

Volumes exceeded 145,000 tonnes and revenues were just over $600 million, figures that represent year-on-year growth of more than 30%.

In fact these figures represent the Brazilian beef industry’s best monthly performance since October 2013 in terms of volume and since December 2014 in terms of value.

The biggest importers of Brazilian beef in August were Hong Kong 34,500 tonnes, Egypt with 23,000 tonnes and China with 18,500.
