Burberry included in DJSI for third successive year
Luxury brand Burberry has won inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the third consecutive year. Burberry said its inclusion in the textiles, apparel and luxury goods section of the 2017 index reflects “the strength of the company’s commitment to continuously exploring more productive and sustainable ways of working”.

It described the index as “a trusted benchmark” for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their decision-making and investments, and said it is “a significant global metric”, evaluating economic, environmental and social factors.

Burberry has a defined responsibility agenda entitled ‘Creating Tomorrow’s Heritage’, a five-year programme focusing on three goals:

- to support 1 million people in the communities that sustain Burberry’s business and the wider luxury industry

- to ensure 100% of Burberry’s products have at least one element that drives positive change

- to invent new approaches to revaluing waste created in the production of luxury goods, while becoming carbon neutral in its own operations.
