Burberry donates to teaching and training initiatives

31/08/2017
Luxury brand Burberry has announced the award of two grants that it says will support education and training initiatives in disadvantaged communities in Yorkshire in northern England.

The Burberry Foundation is to give money to an education charity called Teach First, which recruits talented professionals as teachers and puts them to work in schools serving low-income communities.

It will also donate to the Careers & Enterprise Company, which aims to help young people prepare  for the world of work.

It said these grants are in line with Burberry’s new “responsibility agenda”, of which a principal goal is to support 1 million people in the communities that “sustain the company’s business and the wider luxury industry”. Yorkshire is the home of the iconic Burberry trench coat, which is manufactured in Castleford using material produced at the company’s mill in Keighley.
