Turkish workshop recreates craft leathergoods

Leather products in the style of traditional crafts from the Turkish region of Anatolia will go on show at future industry exhibitions following a successful workshop in July at the department of leather engineering at Ege University in Izmir. This project was created by Professor Elif Eser Eke Bayramoglu, a frequent speaker at leather industry conferences around the world.

She worked with participants to design and produce goods in the style of Anatolian craft, using a variety of techniques. The workshop had the support of the Turkish Leather Goods Association, Istanbul Leather and Leather Goods Exporter Association (IDMID) and the Turkish Leather Foundation (TURDEV) and it is these organisations that now hope to put the products that came out of the workshop on display internationally.

“We created very interesting goods from leather,” Professor Eke Bayramoglu said after the workshop, “and I would like to show them at leather fashion shows and congresses.”
