Relaunched Danier opens new stores
Former Canadian specialist leather apparel brand Danier Leather has dropped the word ‘Leather’ from its name, found new owners, scaled back its collections and found a new lease of life since an insolvency event in 2016.

Now called Danier, the company opened three stores last year in and around Toronto and has opened a further five in 2017, including one in Winnipeg. Its shops still sell leather jackets, but whereas Danier Leather collections in the old days might have included up to 80 or 90 different styles of leather jacket, Danier collections today are limited to around 10. It has added woollen garments and footwear to its ranges.

Reports from Canada have said that Danier was able to launch under its new name soon after suffering an insolvency event because the previous company’s management team went out of its way to pay all staff and all suppliers the full amounts of money they were owed and that this bought a large amount of good will towards the new company.
