Sales of mainstream cars hold up in H1

As a group, Renault sold just under 1.9 million cars in the six-month period, an increase of 10.4% compared to the first six months of 2016.
Renault’s vice-president for sales and marketing, Thierry Koskas, said on announcing the figures that they constitute a record for the first six months. He added that sales volumes and market share increased for all of the group’s brands in all regions.
Rival group Volkswagen’s sales were higher, at more than 2.9 million vehicles. However, Volkswagen’s growth was lower at just 0.3% compared to the January-June period in 2016.
