Rwandan budget gives boost to tanneries

The policy was part of the 2017/18 annual budget, which was presented to the Rwandan parliament on June.
In reaction to the news, Philippe Mugabo, the general manager of Dala SlaughterHouse in Kigali, told local media that his company is considering investing in a tannery as the scrapping of taxes on equipment will drastically reduce the initial set-up cost.
Rwandan media also reports that the government is considering limiting or banning the export of raw hides and skins in an effort to encourage greater investment in tanneries in the country.
