VGCT hands out annual awards

The VGCT Promotional Award is given each year to a student who has completed their leather training with exceptional performance. The 2017 winner was Yannick Strebost, who was described as having an “innate love for leather”. VGCT deputy chairman Dr Beate Haaser, who presented Mr Strebost with his award, said he already had an impressive appreciation of the challenges facing tanners, despite his young age. He has completed internships at Stahl and TFL.
The Annual Award was given to Manfred Willsch, who has played a leading role in the survival of a number of German-language publications related to the leather and footwear industry. He was praised for his “extraordinary commitment to leather” and it was suggested that there would be no German-language journals dedicated to the leather industry were it not for his input. He currently serves as the APLF agent for Germany, Austria, Denmark, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
