The US Hide Skin and Leather Association (USHSLA) has reported export statistics for the first four months of 2017.

Its figures show that packers and traders shipped almost 7.8 million wet salted hides between January and April, bringing in export revenues of almost $503 million. Compared to the same months in 2016, these figures represent an increase of 17% in volume and of 19% in value.

For wet blue, however, total exports amounted to 2.1 million over the four months, bringing in revenues of $198 million. Year on year, this represents a fall of 4% in volume and of 2% in value.
