Leather Is My Job project concludes with Igualada event
A second phase of the ‘Leather is My Job’ project, aimed at improving the European tanning industry’s image in the eyes of jobseekers, reached its conclusion on June 8 with an event in Igualada’s Museu de la Pell leather museum. People from all over Europe travelled to Catalonia for the event.

Host, Xavier Badia, president of Spanish tanning industry association Acexpiel, said in his welcome address that any initiative to attract young people to a career in the leather industry was of high value. He said: “This is an interesting sector with a good future, but ‘Leather Is My Job’ is an important project for the future of our companies because the most important thing we have is our people.”

Europe’s representative body for the leather industry, COTANCE, ran the project with its trade union social partners and the event continued with a series of presentations on the work that has taken place to increase young people’s appreciation of the industry.
