New solar power initiative at Sepiciler

Turkish tanning group Sepiciler completed an audit by multi-stakeholder body the Leather Working Group for the second time in May 2017 and has become the first tannery in Turkey to achieve LWG membership.

Initiatives that the company says will help it continue to make progress include a new solar energy plant a its facility near Izmir. Construction has already begun and, once complete, the new development will have the capacity to generate 12 megawatts of solar power.

Sepiciler has also said its work to achieve certification under ISO 14001 will be complete in 2018.

The company won Tannery of the Year for Europe in 2013.
