A good start to the year for BASF

Chemicals group BASF has reported a 19% increase in sales revenues for the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period last year. Chairman, Dr Kurt Bock, described this as “a good start to the year”.

Sales in the Performance Products segment grew by 9% compared to the figure for the first quarter of 2016. This segment, which includes the Performance Chemicals division, which, in turn, includes BASF’s leather chemicals business, achieved sales revenue of €4.3 billion.

BASF announced in March that it intends to sell its leather chemicals business to Stahl.
