New CICUR president calls on Guanajuato tanners to innovate

05/04/2017
The main representative body of the tanning industry in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, CICUR, has elected Ernest Vega Guillot as its new president. Mr Vega will serve a two-year term.

He said on taking up the position that the challenges he sees for the industry in Guanajuato, the region of Mexico with the highest number of leather manufacturers, centre on promoting domestically and internationally its image and the quality of the material it produces. An important part of this, he said, involves encouraging tanners in Guanajuato to become “more professional and more innovative”.

He called on tanners to “keep an open mind” and to build up “a modern leather industry”, a sector that he says still gives employment to thousands of families in this part of Mexico.
