Colombian tanners to take advantage of government credit initiative

27/03/2017
Five tanners in a leather cluster in the Quindío department in Colombia will work together and use a government funding initiative to boost their presence in the domestic and the international markets.

A government plan called iNNpulsa aims to give entrepreneurs in Colombia easier access to credit.

The five leather manufacturers, which include Curtiembre Taner and Cueros Toscana, are based near the department’s capital, Armenia, which is about 300 kilometres south-west of Bogotá. They have said they will take advantage of iNNpulsa to form “a single business organisation” to produce high-quality leather and find new markets for it in Colombia and overseas.

They will use the credit available through the new initiative to invest in high-quality raw material, in new machinery, ISO accreditation and new national and international marketing strategies.
