AICC 2017 programme off to a successful start

A programme of events that the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC) will run this year to help leather manufacturers in the country’s main tanning clusters keep up their levels of scientific knowledge got under way recently with a seminar at Alte Ceccato, near Arzignano.

At this, the first of 12 technical events AICC will host in 2017, polymer chemistry expert Dr Rocco Gliubizzi from chemicals group Chemiplastica spoke about tannins.

He described the introduction of vegetable tannins and of synthetic polymers as the leather industry’s passage from alchemy to chemistry and went on to speak in detail about the different types of tannins in use in the industry today.
