Mexican packer and tanning group Sukarne opened new offices and a new warehouse and order fulfilment centre in mid-March to support the expansion, domestically and internationally, of its hide, wet blue and crust leather business. The new facilities are in Parque Piel, a dedicated leather industry site in León.

Sukarne currently has a slaughter capacity of more than 8,500 hides per day, produced at five different facilities in the northern and central regions of Mexico. All hides arrive fresh daily in refrigerated trucks to processing plants in León.

Its processing plants are compliant with accredited programmes such as ISO, Ecco leather standards and the Leather Working Group and it is now broadening its customer base in Asia and Europe.

This new facility will centralise activities and provide improved customer service and product consistency, the company said on making the announcement.
