Cartigliano presents “the Ferrari of staking machines”

One of the showpieces at Cartigliano’s always-busy stand at Tanning Tech was a new staking machine, the 416 Nero.

The company’s area manager for China and India, Marco Bidoggia, said the new machine represents “a reinvention”, aesthetically as well as in terms of its internal structure, of previous staking machines and will “do more to help tanners achieve improvements in quality”.

He explained that hides going through the 416 Nero will have a better softness than tanners are used to, at the same time as giving them greater yield.

“Staking is all about the mechanical action that takes place when a hide passes through,” Mr Bidoggia said. “Here, we’ve managed to increase the the number of beats per minute by 10%, from an average of 700 before to 770 now, and the beating jaws move in a synchronised way. Meanwhile, vibration in other parts of the machine is reduced; the vibrations are only increased at the point of contact with the hide, and, as a result, hides are bigger and softer after staking.”

He said the 416 Nero is “the Ferrari of staking machines”.
