India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) is taking its quest to find new markets and export growth to Africa and to Russia.

The organisation will meet a group of more than 20 ambassadors from African countries in New Delhi in mid-February to gauge the level of interest in expanding the leather sector in those countries and to persuade those who want to make more of leather to work with India.

Later in February, CLE will hold a similar meeting in the Indian capital with diplomatic, customs and business representatives from Russia.

“We are working hard to diversify our export markets,” said CLE chairman, Mukhtarul Amin, on announcing the meetings.
