Record revenues for LVMH in 2016
Luxury group LVMH has announced record revenues for 2016, reaching €37.6 billion. The group achieved profits of just over €7 billion on this revenue. These figures represent year-on-year growth of 5% and 6% respectively.

Its leathergoods and fashion division contributed nearly €12.8 billion towards total revenue and almost €3.9 billion in profit. Leathergoods’ share of the group’s totals was 34% of revenue and just under 56% of profit.

Year-on-year growth in the leathergoods and fashion division was 3% in revenue and 10% in profit.

The group said its flagship Louis Vuitton brand had a good year in 2016, “driven by creativity”. It pointed to strong demand for recent creations such as the new luggage designed by Marc Newson.

Of the other luxury leathergoods brands that are part of LVMH, it highlighted the performance of Fendi, which achieved revenue of more than €1 billion for the first time, and said Céline, Loewe and Kenzo had all continued to grow.

Individual products that proved particularly popular in 2016 included the Twist and Capucines handbags from Louis Vuitton and the Peekaboo from Fendi.
