Pakistan’s leather firms must grow for share of government package

The government of Pakistan has pledged to make $1.7 billion available to manufacturing companies over the next five years but has said firms must grow their exports if they want a share.

Leather-sector manufacturers will have the right to claim 7% in duty drawback to help them increase their exports, but the government has said the only manufacturers who gain access to this assistance will be those who achieve at least 10% growth in export revenues next financial year.

In Pakistan, the financial year runs from July to June.
