SUV demand brings Canada into Audi’s top-ten markets
09/01/2017
Sports utility vehicle (SUV) demand played an important part in Audi’s 2016 success; last year the company completed the global market introduction of its “second-generation, full-size SUV”, the Q7 model. In total, Audi sold 102,200 Q7 vehicles last year, an increase of 43.6% compared to 2015.
The company is now expanding its SUV offering with the Q2, a “compact, city” SUV, the European launch of which towards the end of last year “generated high demand at Audi dealerships”.
Audi launched the new Q7 in North America in spring 2016 and, by the end of the year, had sold 18.9% more SUVs than in the previous year in the US, with a total of just over 100,000 units. Growth in Canada was 14.2% year on year, with 30,544 SUVs sold. This demand for SUVs made Canada one of Audi’s top-ten markets in 2016, a first for the automotive company.
