Recycling commitment sparks new idea for Smit & zoon
24/11/2016
From December 2016, all the drums the company uses will contain the recycled material; up to 65% of all the polyethylene used to make the drums will be recycled. Old blue drums are recycled by grinding them up to make resin and a supplier company then uses a mix of this post-consumer resin and virgin polyethylene to make new drums.
Smit & zoon has said this initiative is “an important next step” in applying its corporate social responsibility commitments to packaging materials. The drums are used to deliver fatliquors and other wet-end chemicals to tanners around the world.
