Leather contributes to industrial growth in Catalonia

18/11/2016
The government of the autonomous community of Catalonia has announced overall year-on-year growth of 3.3% in its economy for the third quarter of 2016, above the rate of growth for the whole of Spain (3.2%) and for the Eurozone (1.6%).

Catalonia’s government said growth in the industrial sector had been “very positive”. It said the region’s industrial sector has been growing steadily since 2013 but that the rate of growth has quickened in 2016.

It added that the leather industry, centred on the cluster in and around Igualada, had been one of the stand-out segments.
