Turkish entrepreneur happy with hide imports from Spain’s bull-rings

Turkish tanning company Urganci believes it has discovered a good source of affordable bull hides, which it is using to make soling leather.

Fatih Civan, the chief executive of the Denizli-based leather producer, has told local media he has identified a supplier of bull hides in Spain who collects the raw material from the country’s bull-rings.

He said the hides have relatively high levels of damage, for obvious reasons, but said the cost is cheaper as a result and that he is able to make “medium-quality soling leather” from it for a good price. He said he intends to continue importing bull hides from the same source.
