Tyson contests analyst analysis of pricing

Meat and leather producer Tyson issued a statement on October 7 in response to an analyst report that mentions a class-action law suit.

In the law suit, filed in Illinois in February, Tyson and other meat suppliers are alleged to have shared information regarding the pricing of chicken.

Bloomberg named the analyst as Tim Ramey, who works for Pivotal Research Group, and quoted him as saying that, while he wasn’t alleging Tyson had colluded on pricing, the narrative of the law suit seems to him to tie in what has happened with chicken prices over the past seven years.

Tyson responded by saying: “While we don’t normally make substantive comments regarding pending litigation, we dispute the allegations in the complaints as well as the speculative conclusions reached by the analyst, and we will defend ourselves in court. Contrary to what the analyst assumed, we have not made any changes to our business practices in response to the complaints.”
