COTANCE announces Leather is My Job conference in Igualada

The original project ran in 2014 and came to a conclusion at an event in Bucharest in October that year. COTANCE, the representative body of the leather industry in the European Union (EU), led the project, working jointly with trade union organisation industriAll. The initiative had the support of the European Commission.
A follow-up project, mainly focusing on “enlarging and deepening” the results achieved already, began to roll out this year with events in Freiberg and Milan. At these, partners reviewed the original project’s activities and, in particular, a new Leather is my Job ceremony, organised in Germany, which includes a new professional qualification for leather technicians.
Project partners have welcomed an expression of interest from Italy’s main industry body, UNIC, in joining the initiative and in sharing promotional, educational and communication activities that are organised every year by the Italian tanning industry.
COTANCE announced that preliminary arrangements for the final conference of the follow-up project are in place, with the event taking place in Igualada in June 2017. At this conference, all project activities will be presented and participants and guest will be able to witness interesting developments in the Catalan leather cluste in research, education and training.
