FDRA travels to Africa for joint summit with Made By Ethiopia

Footwear development project Made By Ethiopia and the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) have organised a joint summit, which will take place in Addis Ababa on September 29.

Under the title ‘Ethiopia: The Source of Premium Duty Free Footwear Manufacturing’, the discussion will aim to encourage footwear importers and retailers in the US to source shoes made in Ethiopia.

Made By Ethiopia is a government-backed initiative that footwear entrepreneur Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu suggested. Following the successful launch of her soleRebels brand, Ms Alemu worked with the government and with the Leather Industry Development Institute to set up Made By Ethiopia to encourage companies throughout the African country to produce high-quality footwear, with pride and using the same fair trade ethos she has employed.
