Lanxess to host follow-up leather seminar in early 2017

26/09/2016
Leather chemicals manufacturer Lanxess has announced a second seminar for brands and others in commercial roles in the leather supply chain.

In January 2016 Lanxess worked with footwear industry body CADS to organise a seminar that discussed in depth important topics regarding leather preservation and gave an overview of activities connected to the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) inititative.

“Due to the fact, that feedback from this meeting was extremely positive, Lanxess has decided to do something similar in January 2017,” the company said on making the announcement.

The main topic this time will be the tanning process and the aim will be to explain different tanning technologies and provide a scientific risk assessment or benchmark for the various alternatives. Another objective will be to give a brief update of the preservation topics and ZDHC from last year, because “interesting things have happened in the meantime”, Lanxess added.

A detailed agenda will be available later this year, but the company gave January 12-13 as provisional dates and said Cologne will, once again, be the venue.
