Volkswagen still showing global sales growth

In the first eight months of this year, the group has delivered more than 6.6 million vehicles, representing a rise of 1.8% compared to 2015.
In the January-August period this year were particularly positive results in China (+9.4%) and western Europe (+8.5%), but the figure for South America showed a decrease of 25.3% compared to the first eight months of 2015, and there was a decline of 6.4% in the US.
January-August 2015 figures do not reflect the impact of the emissions scandal that Volkswagen became embroiled in last year. News of the group’s intentional programming of diesel engines to activate certain emissions controls only during laboratory emissions testing emerged on September 18 last year.
