Work continues on new Paraboot factory

Richard-Pontvert, the company behind the Paraboot footwear brand, has said work is ongoing at a new production facility at  Saint-Jean-de-Moirans in Isère, near the French Alps. Construction work began at the site at the start of 2016 and the company, which is selling its two existing production sites in the nearby towns of Izeaux and Tullin-Fures to fund the project, believes it will start making Paraboot shoes and boots at the new facility in spring 2017.

Proud of its made-in-France heritage, Richard-Pontvert insists on continuing to use high-end materials to make Paraboot shoes. Each shoe requires 150 different operations and two hours of work. It says 99% of the leather it uses is European, with three-quarters of the total coming from French tanneries. The main exception is the small amount of cordovan leather the company brings in from North America.
