Fewer Turkish firms took part in ACLE this year

Ongoing constraints on the Turkish leather industry led to a decline in the country’s representation at the 2016 All China Leather Exhibition in Shanghai compared to previous years.

In the end, only 20 companies travelled from Turkey to take part: eight tanners, seven leather garment producers, four chemical suppliers and one machinery provider.

Sources in Turkey have said tanneries there are closing owing to an ongoing decline in exports of leather shoes, leathergoods and leather garments.

The 20 companies that did travel to Shanghai went in hope of boosting exports to the Chinese market.
