Mr Su made the announcement on the opening day of the All China Leather Exhibition in Shanghai (August 31-September 2).
He said he hoped industry figures will “support the new council members and the development of China’s tanning industry. The new members were elected the previous day after the 7th CLIA Council completed its term.
Mr Su has been part of the CLIA since 1993 when he took charge of project research into industry development. Two years later he moved to the position of Secretary-general as project coordinator. In this role he managed the operation of tanning wastewater treatment projects. He was Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the CLIA from 2001 to 2010 before becoming Chairman since 2011.
During his time at the helm he was a key figure in guiding the Chinese leather industry through a difficult period. It has now returned to steady growth after some years of uncertainty.
