Full-year figures show substantial drop in Pakistan’s leather exports

Full financial year figures for the 2015-2016 financial year show that Pakistan’s exports of finished leather fell substantially in volume and in value year on year.

Between July 2015 and June 2016, tanners in Pakistan exported 16.1 million square-metres of finished leather. This material earned export revenues of $362.5 million.

Compared to the 2014-2015 financial year, these figures represent a decline of 27.6% in volume and of 25.9% in value.

Exports of leather footwear were also down. Footwear manufacturers in Pakistan exported just under 6.4 million pairs of leather shoes in 2015-2016, earning export revenues of $89 million. Compared to the previous financial year, this represents a fall of 7.7% in volume and of 18.8% in value.
