New Bogotá Fashion Week will showcase leather sector

Colombian capital Bogotá is to have its own fashion week event, beginning next year. The inaugural Bogotá Fashion Week will run from February 28 to March 3.

The city’s chamber of commerce is the driving force behind the initiative and has said its aims will include transforming Bogotá from a centre of production into a complete international fashion industry hub; more than 30,000 companies involved in producing fashion items are registered in Bogotá.

Part of the chamber of commerce’s work has been to organise a large number of these companies into clusters, one of which is dedicated to the production of leather, leathergoods and footwear. It wants the Bogotá Fashion Week to help these clusters become more competitive and bring new names from these sectors to the attention of Colombian and international buyers.
