Leather and shoes give Brazilian manufacturing a boost in June

Brazil’s industrial output rose by 1.1% in the month of June 2016 compared to May 2016, but year on year, the country’s manufacturing performance was down by 6%, according to government statistics body IBGE. Furthermore, in the first half of 2016, there was a contraction of 9.1%.

There was slightly better news in that leathergoods and footwear made a strong contribution to the improvement in June 2016 compared to the month before. Over that period, leathergoods and footwear registered growth of 10.8%.
