Valentino creative director moves to Dior

Her background in leathergoods is strong. She joined Valentino in 1999 and ran its accessories collections until 2008, when she took on the wider role of creative director for the brand.
Ms Chiuri is the first woman to become artistic director of Dior’s women’s collections. She said on confirming the move that she was conscious of the responsibility she will have as “the first woman in charge of creation in a house so deeply rooted in the pure expression of femininity”.
For its part, Dior paid tribute to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s expertise in couture and her “passion for craftsmanship”.
