Assomac still achieves growth in ‘slower’ 2015
27/06/2016
According to Assomac’s figures, the tanning machinery sector achieved growth of 1.9% in 2015. The organisation referred to this as a set-back because growth in 2014 was almost 10%. Nevertheless, it said its members’ performance last year indicated a growth rate that was twice that of the Italian economy overall.
Assomac members achieved revenues of €528 million in 2015, €431.6 million of which came from exports. The organisation numbered 240 companies in 2015 (up from 235 the year before), and together these technology providers employed 4,100 people, 1% more than the year before.
Speaking at the annual general meeting, Assomac president, Gabriella Marchioni Bocca, said: “Our strength lies in innovation. We export to 120 countries around the world and know what it means to be innovative and rise in the best way possible to market challenges.”
She went on to say that ending 2015 with growth, albeit with lower values than 2014, is an indication of the staying power of Italian tanning machinery companies. She added that the challenge for the near future will be for her member companies to also maintain their position of leadership in terms of sustainability, energy saving, transparency and traceability.
