Cattle slaughter in Brazil down by 5.8% in Q1

Brazil’s official slaughter level for the first quarter of 2016 was just under 7.3 million head of cattle. This figure represents a decline of 5.8% compared to the same quarter in 2015. The figures come from federal statistics agency IBGE.

Twenty-one of Brazil’s 27 states registered a lower figure during the first three months of 2016 than in the corresponding period last year, with the biggest declines coming in Goiás, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul.
