Visiting Almansa earlier this month, Ms Franco said 22 companies from the town had applied for funding under a new regional economic funding initiative called Plan Adelante. She said €1.4 million in funding was earmarked for Almansa and that 80% of the money would go to footwear companies.
Castilla La Mancha said on launching Plan Adelante that its aim is to change the direction of travel of manufacturing and entrepreneurship in the region. It said it wants to create a new environment in which businesses in the region can become stronger, open up to outside markets and develop themselves.
Patricia Franco said she wanted Almansa shoe manufacturers to use the Plan Adelante money to keep investing in innovation, keep expanding in overseas markets and keep improving the quality of the footwear they produce.
