Morocco's national statistics office has released a new edition of a report on the country's artisan industries. This the ninth edition of the report, called Le Panorama de l'Artisanat, focuses on the year 2014. It said the value of artisan production in Morocco grew by 7.5% that year compared to 2013 and reached a total of $2.2 billion. Leathergoods accounted for 7.9% of that value. The report said most of the craftspeople producing artisan goods work in urban rather than rural locations now; and while only a little over 25% of all value was created by small or medium enterprises (with sole traders producing the rest), SMEs showed by far the fastest growth, registering a year-on-year rise of almost 19%.
