Exchange rate puts a gloss on Brazil’s January hide exports

16/02/2016
Brazil’s ministry for external trade has said the country’s hide exports brought in $152.5 million in January. This represents a year-on-year decline of 16.4%.

In local currency terms the value is 28.5% higher than in January 2015 because of the fall in value of the real in recent months; in January 2016 the currency’s value compared to the dollar was more than 50% lower than it was a year earlier.
