Pakistan’s leather sector exports for the first six months of the current calendar year (July-December 2015) show a decline of more than 20% year on year.

The figure for the July-December period in 2015 was $505.7 million compared to more than $635 million during the same period in 2014.

During the six-month period tanners exported 8 million square-metres of finished leather with a total value of almost $185 million. The comparative figures for the same period last year were 11.8 million square-metres in volume and just under $250 million in value, which represents declines of 32.2% and 26% respectively.
